As you will soon find out I am an avid book reader and when a book really speaks to me or entertains my ever wondering mind I must share. I read the book, We’re Going to Need More Wine by Gabrielle Union, in its entirety in one sitting.
This book and the way it presents various milestones in her life is nothing short of remarkable. She is hilarious, honest, at times blunt, but she is real. Often times celebrities are not treated or seen as real people, with real problems. From the outside looking in, it is sometimes difficult for fans or “normal” (for the lack of a better word) people to believe that they have problems because of all the money they have, or because “they knew what they were signing up for” when they pursued the profession. She opens up about things that a lot of people can relate to. Reading the book made me feel as if I was listening to a best friend as she shared her ups and downs in life. More importantly the book made me feel that I was not alone in the battles I have faced. I have a newfound respect for Gabrielle Union. Not only did she take a huge risk by opening up to so many people despite a very serious traumatic experience; she overcame many obstacles to get where she is today and to continue to grow. My local library had the book so I was able to read it for free, however I recently ordered the book off of Amazon to support Mrs. Union-Wade. It is a great read!
